Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 15: Success is often measured by job titles, salaries and professional achievements. But what happens when someone reaches a significant career milestone and still feels that something is missing?
For Binita Darekar, Founder of Guided Growth with Binita, that question became the beginning of a new professional chapter.
After building a career in Human Resources and reaching a senior leadership position with a seven-figure annual salary, Binita found herself reflecting on a deeper question: Was professional success alone enough to feel fulfilled?
Her answer did not come overnight. It emerged through years of working closely with people, listening to their challenges and recognising that some of her most meaningful professional moments had little to do with designations or business targets.
A Career Built Around Understanding People
Throughout her HR career, Binita worked across recruitment, employee engagement, people management and leadership responsibilities. Her work brought her into contact with professionals at different stages of their careers, from students preparing for their first jobs to experienced employees navigating workplace challenges.
What stayed with her were the conversations.
Whether she was helping a nervous candidate feel comfortable during an interview, speaking with students during campus recruitment or listening to an employee struggling with a difficult situation, Binita found fulfilment in creating an environment where people felt heard and understood.
Over time, colleagues and team members began recognising this strength in her. Their feedback encouraged her to look beyond her professional responsibilities and consider how she could use this ability to support people more intentionally.
She also noticed a recurring pattern: capable, hardworking professionals often struggled to recognise their own potential.
Some feared making the wrong career decision. Others constantly compared their progress with those around them. Many knew they wanted something different but found themselves unable to take the next step.
These experiences gradually shaped her understanding of personal and professional growth.
When Self-Reflection Opened a New Direction
Despite achieving career stability, Binita began exploring questions about purpose, fulfilment and personal growth.
She turned towards self-reflection, personal development books and learning experiences that encouraged her to better understand her strengths and aspirations.
An important moment came when she completed a DISC assessment associated with Tony Robbins’ personal development resources. The assessment highlighted coaching as a potential direction, prompting her to explore the profession more seriously.
What initially began as curiosity gradually became a meaningful career possibility.
She realised that the satisfaction she experienced while helping colleagues navigate challenges was closely connected to the work she wanted to pursue.
However, recognising a new direction and choosing to follow it were two different things.
Choosing Purpose Without Having All the Answers
Moving away from an established HR career was not an easy decision.
Binita had professional experience, financial responsibilities and the security of a familiar career path. Starting a coaching practice meant entering a new industry, building credibility and creating a business from the beginning.
There were practical questions. Would coaching become a sustainable profession? Could she build something meaningful independently? Would her experience translate into helping people outside a corporate environment?
Rather than waiting for complete certainty, she chose to begin with the experience, knowledge and commitment she already had.
She pursued professional coaching education and developed her skills further as a certified Life Coach and NLP Practitioner.
This transition eventually led to the creation of Guided Growth with Binita, a coaching practice centred on clarity, self-trust and intentional growth.
Helping Professionals Move Beyond Overthinking
Today, as a Growth Coach, Binita focuses on supporting working professionals who feel stuck in their personal or professional lives.
Her approach recognises that feeling stuck does not always mean someone lacks ambition, talent or opportunity. Sometimes, the challenge lies in overthinking, fear of making mistakes, external expectations or difficulty trusting one’s own decisions.
Through Guided Growth with Binita, she helps individuals explore their thought patterns, recognise what matters to them and take practical steps towards their goals.
Her coaching approach includes the Aligned Growth Framework, which focuses on building awareness, gaining clarity, strengthening self-trust and translating insights into intentional action.
Drawing on her HR leadership background, she also understands the importance of emotionally supportive workplaces, effective communication and professional development.
Her broader vision includes working with organisations through employee wellbeing, personal effectiveness and leadership development workshops.
A Different Understanding of Success
For Binita Darekar, the transition from HR leadership to growth coaching has also changed how she defines success.
It is no longer only about achieving the next designation or reaching a particular professional milestone. It is about recognising personal values, making conscious choices and creating a life that feels meaningful.
Her journey reflects a challenge faced by many professionals: balancing the expectations of a successful career with the desire for personal fulfilment.
Through Guided Growth with Binita, she hopes to encourage more people to recognise that growth does not always require having every answer in advance.
Sometimes, it begins with asking better questions, understanding oneself and having the courage to take the next step.
