From Corporate Boardrooms to 250 Million Plus Views: Producer Ritu Vaidya Builds Kusum Communications Into a Leading Vertical Drama Studio

Ritu Vaidya launched Kusum Communications after a decade in the media industry, having built her career since 2014 across event management, production management and corporate filmmaking, with credits including Discovery Kids, Fever FM, Hindustan Times and Omnicom Media. She held roles as Project Supervisor and Executive Producer before moving into fiction, betting that vertical, mobile-first storytelling would define the next phase of Indian audience consumption.

The studio’s titles have released across major platforms including Kuku TV, Wow TV, Story TV, Winzo TV, Tangy TV and Viralo TV. Its breakout title, Coolie Ki Diamond Dulhaniya, directed by Shadaab Mirza, crossed 100 million views within two months of release and now stands at approximately 130 million. It has been followed by Chuppa Rustom, Meri Sanki Dulhaniya, Don Dolly Aur Dulhaniya and Surrogate to Soulmate.

Ritu Vaidya, Founder, Kusum Communications said, “My corporate journey taught me systems, discipline and execution, while fiction taught me emotion. Today, I bring that same professionalism into storytelling. I believe creativity and business don’t have to exist separately; they become more powerful when they work together. Kusum Communications is where those two worlds come together.”

Kusum is now expanding beyond vertical drama into web series, feature films and global OTT platforms, with an upcoming association with JioHotstar Tadka marking its next step toward becoming a full-spectrum content studio.

Ritu Vaidya said, “Our vision has always been larger than one format. Vertical dramas gave us a strong foundation, but our goal is to create compelling stories across web series, feature films and global OTT platforms. We are building Kusum Communications as a content studio that can create stories for every screen and every audience.”
