Indian Artist Tanmay Shah Brings Borrowed Earth to UNESCO’s Global Climate-Art Conversation

A 26-work exhibition on perception, permanence and planetary stewardship finds a place in a UNESCO-Jeju initiative connecting art and climate action across Asia-Pacific.

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], August 17: Indian artist and filmmaker Tanmay Shah presented his exhibition Borrowed Earth as part of the Art for Earth: Climate Creativity Lab 2026 webinar, a UNESCO-backed platform that brought together six artists from across the Asia-Pacific region to discuss the intersection of creative practice and climate change. Shah’s presentation marks a rare instance of an Indian visual artist’s climate-focused body of work being featured on this kind of international forum, positioning his practice within a wider regional conversation about art’s capacity to shape environmental awareness.
