“Unstop Launches India’s First Hackathon Built for Talent Acquisition Teams, Co-Powered by People Matters”
New Delhi [India], July 27: Unstop, India’s leading platform for early-talent hiring and engagement, has partnered with People Matters to launch the TA Hackathon, India’s first hackathon built exclusively for Talent Acquisition (TA) and HR professionals. The competition asks the TA community to solve the problems the TA community itself faces, with winners announced live at People Matters TechHR India 2026 in Delhi on 6th August.
India’s first hackathon for Talent Acquisition and HR leaders offers ₹1.5 lakh in cash prizes, with the top six teams pitching live at People Matters TechHR India 2026 in Delhi. Register here.
Quick Facts
What: India’s first TA Hackathon for HR and Talent Acquisition professionals
Organized by: Unstop and People Matters
Who can enter: Working professionals across India in TA, HR, and people roles – solo or teams of up to 3
Despite continued investment in recruitment technology, most companies in India still take more than 40 days to close a single hire. The TA Hackathon is built directly around this bottleneck: participants receive a real-world case study focused on the real bottlenecks in hiring, then design and present a practical fix, not as a slide deck, but as a three-minute video.

“For years, TA teams have run hackathons to help other functions find talent,” said Ankit Aggarwal, CEO of Unstop. “This is the first time the process has been flipped, asking the people who run hiring to solve the problems within their own function.”
The competition is open to working professionals across India in Talent Acquisition, HR, and people roles including TA heads, recruiters, HRBPs, HR-tech leaders, and people-analytics professionals. Independent recruiters and professionals currently between roles are also eligible. Entrants may participate solo or as teams of up to three.
How the TA Hackathon Works
The competition runs in two stages:
Stage 1: Online Submission: Registered participants unlock a detailed case study and submit a three-minute video presentation of their solution by 3rd August, 11:00 AM IST. The top four teams are shortlisted for the Grand Finale, with results declared the same day.
Stage 2: Grand Finale: Six teams, four shortlisted online, plus two wildcard entries selected on-site, pitch live at TechHR India 2026 in Delhi on 6th August. Each team presents for five minutes, followed by a Q&A with a jury of CHROs. The live audience also votes alongside the jury, producing two separate winners.
Submissions are judged on four criteria: problem framing, solution feasibility, innovation, and the strength of the storytelling and impact behind the pitch. Video production quality is explicitly not a judging factor, organizers say a phone-recorded submission is entirely acceptable, with all weight placed on the substance of the idea.
Prizes and Recognition
Jury Winner: ₹1,00,000 cash per team, plus a winner’s trophy from Unstop
Audience Winner: ₹50,000 cash per team, plus a winner’s trophy from Unstop
All six Grand Finale teams receive a Certificate of Recognition from Unstop and People Matters
Every participant receives a Participation Certificate
Shortlisted teams also receive complimentary passes to attend TechHR India 2026
Winning teams will additionally be featured by both Unstop and People Matters following the event.
Why It Matters for India’s HR Industry
The TA Hackathon arrives as hiring functions across India face growing pressure to modernize from AI-assisted sourcing to data-driven workforce planning, while still contending with entrenched process delays. By bringing TA and HR professionals together to solve what actually slows hiring down, organizers say the competition is designed to surface practical ideas grounded in day-to-day recruiting realities rather than theoretical frameworks.
“Hiring has real problems, and everybody in TA knows it,” the spokesperson added. “This isn’t about another vendor pitching a fix. It’s about the people closest to the problem building one.”
How to Register for the TA Hackathon
Registrations are open now, with online video submissions closing on 3rd August 2026. Interested professionals can register on the official competition page for full eligibility details, evaluation criteria, and case study access.
