Actor Dharmendra Singh Chandel continues to make impressive strides in his career as he takes on a major theatrical role while preparing for an upcoming feature film.

New Delhi [India], August 4: Dharmendra Singh Chandel is steadily carving a place for himself in the entertainment industry through dedication, versatility, and a commitment to meaningful performances. Adding another significant achievement to his growing career, the actor has signed a lead role contract with Arkadia Theatre Company for its theatrical production of Anton Chekhov’s celebrated play, Three Sisters.

Dharmendra will portray Andrei Sergeyevich Prozorov, commonly known as Andrei, the brother of the three Prozorov sisters and one of the play’s most important characters. Throughout the story, Andrei’s journey reflects themes of frustrated ambition, social stagnation, regret, and the relentless passage of time, making it one of Chekhov’s most emotionally complex roles.

Speaking about the opportunity, Dharmendra shared in a recent interview, “I am truly excited to play such a layered and challenging character. I look forward to giving my very best and contributing to a memorable Off-Broadway production.”

The production is scheduled to begin its first run in September 2026, with additional runs planned in 20272028, and beyond.

In addition to his theatre commitment, Dharmendra is currently rehearsing for the feature film The Elevator Pitch, which is scheduled to begin principal photography in April 2027. Director Kamlesh Sharma has expressed his excitement about collaborating with Dharmendra and is confident that the actor will bring depth and authenticity to his role.

The founder and director of Arkadia Theatre Company revealed that Dharmendra was cast after watching his performances in the short films The Celiac Bully and Population 0. Impressed by his natural screen presence and emotional range, the director praised Dharmendra’s ability to connect with audiences through his performances.

In The Celiac Bully, directed by Jamie Granato, Dharmendra played the lead role of Phillip, a courageous high school student who takes a stand against bullying and encourages others to confront injustice. His heartfelt performance earned appreciation for portraying an important social issue with sincerity and conviction.

Dharmendra also delivered a memorable performance in Population 0, a silent short film directed by Parth Gohil. He played the role of the Male Lover, a middle-class government employee from a metropolitan city who unexpectedly finds himself in an untouched tribal region. As a young woman from the tribe falls in love with him, the story unfolds into an emotional and compelling narrative that explores culture, human connection, and destiny.
