1xBet Sponsored Team “Ghent Gladiators” Win the inaugural EUT20 in Belgium

The team led by head coach Jonathan Trott repeatedly had its schedule disrupted by rain, and the match against JB Bruges ended in a Super Over defeat.

Despite early difficulties, the Gladiators reached the decisive stage, Super 4, where

in the final game, they beat Antwerp Anchors by 21 runs.

Dwaine Pretorius took four wickets for 18 and was named Player of the Match.

Both squads reached the final and met again the next day in the title match. Antwerp Anchors batted first and scored 178 runs in 20 overs, losing six wickets.

To win, Ghent Gladiators needed to beat this total. Sam Harper scored 47 runs

from 23 balls, while Josh Brown added another 40 from 22.

In the closing stages, Ghent Gladiators lost a few wickets but reached 181 runs and secured victory with one ball to spare. Ali Khan was named Player of the Match after taking two wickets for 15 runs.

“We had to adapt to the weather and wait for our chances, but in the decisive matches, the team showed real resilience. Thanks to 1xBet, who supported us and for their partnership,” said a Ghent Gladiators representative.

EUT20 – A New Stage of European Cricket

First edition of the EUT20, held in Belgium from 6 to 14 June, with five teams taking part in 18 games. Temba Bavuma, Martin Guptill, Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali, Alex Hales and Jason Roy played alongside promising European cricketers.

Despite its debut status, the competition immediately gained international reach, attracting interest beyond European fans. Matches were broadcast by Sony Sports Network and FanCode in India, SuperSport in Africa, Flow Sports and Willow in the Americas, and Sky in the UK and across Europe.

“In the debut season, it was important for us to show that European cricket can attract an international audience. We are grateful to 1xBet for their support, which helped make the tournament more visible in different regions,” said an EUT20 representative.

The ambitions of the new league aligned with 1xBet’s approach, which supports sport development and promising projects in new markets. As an official partner, 1xBet was widely represented at all stages of the competition. The brand featured in the league’s advertising campaigns and official materials, while the company’s logo appeared at matches in arenas and on television broadcasts. In addition, as part of the partnership, fans took part in a draw for team-branded merchandise signed by the players.

“EUT20 made a strong impression in its debut season. We were pleased to support a new cricket tournament, and the victory of our partner team, Ghent Gladiators, made the season’s end especially rewarding for us.  We will continue to work to develop and promote cricket worldwide,” said a 1xBet representative.

The competition was truly spectacular, and Ghent Gladiators’ title was a fitting conclusion to the first season of the EUT20 and further confirmation that 1xBet bets on winners.
