HCG Unveils Dedicated Breast Cancer Care Clinic in Bengaluru, Hosts ‘Pinkvolution’ Women’s Bikeathon

More than 250 women riders from different age groups participated in the 5.4-kilometre bikeathon, which commenced from HCG Cancer Hospital, K.R. Road and concluded at the HCG Banashankari unit. The ride sought to highlight the importance of early detection in improving breast cancer outcomes.

The initiative was flagged off by Shri Neelamani N. Raju, IPS (Retd.), former Director General and Inspector General of Police, Karnataka, along with Kannada actor Mrs. Pramila Joshai and Ms. Manisha Kumar, COO, Karnataka, HCG Cancer Hospital. Senior oncologists Dr. Jayanti Thumsi and Dr. Smitha Saldanha addressed participants and spoke about the growing need for breast cancer awareness and preventive healthcare.

As part of the programme, HCG conducted a free breast examination and screening camp for participants and walk-in visitors. Complimentary consultations and mammography screenings were offered to encourage women to undergo preventive health checks.

The newly launched Breast cancer care Clinic will offer multidisciplinary care, bringing together specialists in surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiology, pathology and counselling services under one roof. The centre is expected to strengthen access to specialised breast cancer care and support early diagnosis among women in the city.

Ms. Manisha Kumar, COO, Karnataka, HCG Cancer Hospital, said “Awareness is the first step towards prevention and early detection. Through the Pinkvolution Women’s Bikeathon, HCG wants to create a strong community movement, encouraging women to give importance to their breast health and seek regular screenings. The specialized Breast Clinic further enhances our commitment of providing comprehensive, multidisciplinary breast Cancer care support. “

Dr. Jayanti Thumsi, Group Lead for Robotic and Advanced Breast Surgery, HCG Cancer Hospital Bengaluru, said, “Breast cancer is highly treatable, and in many cases curable, when detected at an early stage. But delayed screening and limited awareness continue to be significant barriers to timely diagnosis. HCG’s specialised Breast cancer care Clinic, supported by a multidisciplinary tumour board, is designed to deliver personalised, evidence-based care that helps improve outcomes and enhances the treatment journey for every woman.”

Dr. Smitha Saldanha, Consultant Medical oncology HCG Cancer Hospital Bengaluru, said, “The energy witnessed at Pinkvolution today sends a powerful message, when women come together, awareness becomes action. Every rider who participated in this initiative became an ambassador for breast health, helping break the silence and stigma that often surround breast cancer. The launch of our dedicated Breast cancer Clinic is an extension of this movement, ensuring that women not only have access to information but also to specialised, compassionate care at every stage of their breast health journey.”

Through initiatives such as Pinkvolution, HCG aims to promote awareness, encourage preventive screenings and support efforts towards reducing the burden of breast cancer through early detection and timely treatment.
