New Delhi: Rail passengers on the Bhopal–Lucknow route are set to get a major upgrade in travel experience with the introduction of a Vande Bharat Express sleeper train. Unlike the existing Vande Bharat services, which primarily feature chair cars, this upcoming model will also include sleeper compartments, ensuring greater comfort for long-distance journeys.

20 Coaches for Higher Capacity

According to railway sources, the Bhopal–Lucknow Vande Bharat is expected to be launched in October. Initially planned with 16 coaches, the train will now be introduced with 20 coaches to accommodate a larger number of travelers. An official notification regarding its schedule, fare, and stoppages is expected by the end of this month.

Reduced Travel Time

At present, trains on this route take around 10–12 hours. The new Vande Bharat is designed to cut travel time by 6–8 hours, providing passengers with a faster, smoother, and more efficient journey. Modern onboard facilities will further enhance the travel experience.

Pit Line Challenge at Rani Kamlapati

One of the reasons for the delayed rollout has been the limited pit line capacity at Rani Kamlapati station. Currently, the two available pit lines are insufficient for maintaining even the existing rakes. To address this, construction of a new pit line is underway. Once completed, the Bhopal–Lucknow sleeper Vande Bharat can officially begin operations.

More Routes in the Pipeline

In addition to this service, the railways is also planning a Vande Bharat Express between Delhi and Bikaner. This new route, long demanded by passengers in Rajasthan, is expected to reduce travel time by at least 1.5 hours on the 450 km journey.

With these developments, Indian Railways is steadily expanding the reach of the Vande Bharat fleet, combining speed, comfort, and modern amenities to reshape intercity travel.
