Bollywood stars Sara Ali Khan and Ayushmann Khurrana lit up the runway as showstoppers for designer Manish Malhotra at Lakmé Fashion Week 2026. The pair closed the designer’s highly anticipated Luxury Prêt 2026 showcase at the Taj Palace in New Delhi, marking Malhotra’s return to the Lakmé Fashion Week stage after nearly three and a half years. Dressed in striking black ensembles, the actors brought contemporary glamour and star power to one of the season’s biggest presentations.

Manish Malhotra’s Return and the Luxury Prêt 2026 Collection

Held in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and presented by Maruti Suzuki NEXA, the show took place on Saturday as part of the six-day Lakmé Fashion Week schedule running from 13 to 18 October 2026. Malhotra’s collection focused on a lighter, more fluid expression of Indian luxury. Modern silhouettes, flowing drapes, luminous metallics and intricate yet refined embellishments defined the looks. The presentation also marked the official runway debut of Manish Malhotra Menswear Luxe Prêt, expanding the label’s offering beyond its signature occasionwear, fine jewellery and accessories.

Speaking about the collection, Manish Malhotra described it as “a new expression of glamour, one that feels effortless, contemporary and deeply personal.” He emphasised craftsmanship that reflects how people dress and celebrate today, moving away from rigid festive structures toward more wearable luxury.

Sara Ali Khan and Ayushmann Khurrana as Showstoppers

Sara Ali Khan made a dramatic statement in a black couture-inspired ensemble. She wore a sculpted strapless bodice with an asymmetrical neckline, detailed with metallic and multicoloured floral embellishments that melted into green sequins. The look was completed with a fluid dhoti-style skirt and a sheer black drape that cascaded to the floor, prioritising movement and modern elegance.

Ayushmann Khurrana brought understated sophistication in an all-black menswear look. He paired a black shirt with a tailored jacket featuring silver-toned floral and ornamental embroidery across the shoulders, lapels and sleeves. Black trousers and polished shoes completed the sharp, contemporary silhouette that highlighted the new menswear line’s balance of classic tailoring and statement detailing. The two closed the show walking hand in hand, drawing sustained applause.

Context of the Season and What Stood Out

Lakmé Fashion Week 2026 returned to Delhi with a broad programme that mixed established designers, emerging talent and international collaborations. Malhotra’s showcase stood out as one of the most anticipated moments of the week, arriving just ahead of the festive and wedding seasons when occasionwear demand peaks. The collection’s emphasis on fluid forms, metallic surfaces and lighter construction reflected a broader shift in Indian luxury fashion toward pieces that feel both celebratory and wearable.

The event continues through 18 October, culminating in the House of Lakmé Grand Finale by Amit Aggarwal. Malhotra’s return, paired with high-profile celebrity presence, reinforced the enduring appeal of star-driven runway moments in the Indian fashion calendar.
