Raymond Surges Nearly 12% as Aerospace and Defence Re-Rating Story Gains Momentum

Global Aerospace Credibility

The centrepiece of the transformation is JK Maini Global Aerospace, through which Raymond manufactures complex aircraft-engine components for more than 25 customers worldwide. The company holds preferred-supplier status with the world’s three largest aircraft-engine manufacturers and has developed over 1,300 engine parts to date — including more than 350 components for latest-generation LEAP engine platforms.

Visibility Is Becoming Scale

Operating momentum is accelerating. Q1 FY27 aerospace revenue rose 40% year-on-year to ₹123 crore, while EBITDA grew 25% to ₹26 crore. The reported margin held at a healthy 21.2%, even after absorbing deliberate R&D investment. More significantly, Raymond has now disclosed a ₹5,960+ crore ten-year aerospace order book, supplemented by an active ₹1,632 crore RFQ pipeline — a combination that gives an Indian engineering company unusually strong long-term revenue visibility.

Defence Optionality Is Turning Real

Defence represents the next major leg of the value-creation story. Raymond has secured its first build-to-specification order from a leading defence-aerospace OEM for specialised onboard storage systems, commenced mass production of precision components for a major defence customer, and obtained formal audit approvals from key Indian defence and aerospace manufacturers. Together, these mark tangible progress from qualification and prototyping into actual commercial production.

Capacity and Leadership Can Accelerate Growth

Management is backing this opportunity with approximately ₹510 crore of aerospace capex planned over five years. A new 45-acre facility coming up in Andhra Pradesh is targeted to begin production by late 2027, expanding capacity for both Indian and international aerospace programmes.

Adding strategic depth, Raymond has appointed former Bharat Electronics chairman Bhanu Prakash Srivastava as CEO–Defence. His background spans radar, missile systems, electronic warfare, communications and defence indigenisation — expertise that could help Raymond expand beyond component manufacturing into defence electronics and systems integration.

The Bull Case

Raymond now combines specialist manufacturing capabilities, blue-chip global customers, a long-duration order book, and emerging defence optionality. Today’s sharp rally suggests the market is just beginning to price in this new identity. If execution converts the pipeline into production while protecting margins, Raymond has the ingredients to evolve into a differentiated Indian aerospace and defence compounder — not merely a restructuring or sum-of-the-parts story.
