“Sofa Trends 2026: What’s Actually Changing in Living Rooms This Year”
New Delhi [India], October 6: Sofa design has moved noticeably away from the boxy, right-angled frames that dominated the last few years. They are being replaced by rounder shapes, richer fabrics, and bold colours. People aren’t buying sofas just because they look nice in photos anymore. They want something that lasts through real life, whether that’s a lazy Sunday or a house full of guests. So what’s actually worth knowing before you shop this year? This blog walks through the biggest sofa trends of 2026 to help you plan your purchase accordingly.
Curves Are Winning Over Straight Lines
Scroll through any home decor page lately, and you’ll spot it straight away. Sharp corners are disappearing, and soft, rounded shapes are taking over. Curved sofas have become the choice for anyone who wants their living room to feel a bit calmer instead of closed in.
A rounded back or a crescent-shaped frame is visually appealing and easily integrates into both modern and traditional home designs. Other than that, rounded-back sofas also help in maximum space utilisation. If you are living in a studio apartment or have space issues, rounded sofas can be the perfect options.
The L-Shape Sofa is Still Popular
Trends come and go, but the L-shape sofahasn’t lost its appeal, especially in Indian homes where space planning matters. It fits neatly into corners, seats more people without needing extra floor space, and now comes in far more finishes than the standard grey fabric we saw a few years ago.

Earthy tones, modular chaise placement, and even built-in storage have made this shape more versatile than ever. Platforms like Pepperfry have expanded their L-shape collections considerably, making it far easier to compare styles and fabrics before deciding.
Texture has become the real star this year, arguably more than colour or shape. Velvet is having a proper comeback. Here’s what’s showing up most in living rooms right now:
Bouclé, now appearing in neater, more structured forms instead of the oversized fluffy look.
Corduroy, giving sofas a slightly retro, tactile edge.
Performance fabrics that mimic natural textures but hold up far better against spills and daily wear.
Rich velvet in jewel tones, used to add depth without needing a bold pattern.
These fabrics genuinely change how a sofa feels in a room, not just how it looks in a picture.
Colour Has Finally Escaped the Beige Trap
For years, neutral was the safe default. That’s changing fast. Deep terracottas, forest greens, and jewel tones like sapphire and emerald are becoming genuine favourites rather than occasional statement pieces. It’s less about being loud for the sake of it and more about bringing a bit of the outdoors, or a bit of drama, into an otherwise ordinary room.
Comfort Engineering Has Taken Over
The biggest change this year isn’t visual at all. Brands are pouring effort into foam density, better suspension systems, and modular frames that actually adjust to how people sit, whether that’s sideways, cross-legged, or fully stretched out. The look still matters, but function is finally getting equal attention, and it shows how much better new sofas feel to actually sit on.
Understanding Sofa Set Price in India
Sofa set price varies more than people expect, mostly because of fabric quality, frame material, and configuration. Here’s a general breakdown to help you set expectations before you start browsing.
Budget Range
What You’ll Typically Get
Under ₹20,000
Basic 3-seaters or compact L-shaped sofas, engineered wood frames
₹20,000 to ₹60,000
Mid-range fabric or leatherette L-shaped sets with better cushioning
₹60,000 to ₹1,20,000
Premium fabric or leather options, solid wood frames, modular layouts
Above ₹1,20,000
Designer sofas with bouclé or velvet upholstery, curved or sculptural frames
Sites such as Pepperfry let you filter by these price brackets directly, which makes comparing fabric and configuration options a lot less overwhelming than walking into five different showrooms.
Wrapping Up
Sofa trends in 2026 revolve around comfort, texture, and colour that actually has personality, rather than chasing a single aesthetic. Curved shapes, richer fabrics, and the dependable L-shape sofa all point to the same idea: people want furniture that fits how they actually live. Understanding sofa set price ranges beforehand makes the whole shopping process a lot smoother, whatever your budget looks like.
