Bespoke Art Gallery Presents ‘The Baroda Wave’, Bringing Together 13 Artists to Explore Memory, Landscape and Change Through Contemporary Art

Through a range of artistic expressions, The Baroda Wave examines how landscapes and identities are continually transformed by human intervention, urban expansion, cultural memory and our relationship with nature. The works move between the personal and the collective, reflecting on remembered childhood spaces, familiar objects, agricultural landscapes and the expanding urban environment.

Landscapes in the exhibition are presented not merely as depictions of the physical world, but as spaces shaped by memory and lived experience. Fields intersect with concrete structures, everyday objects become repositories of personal histories, and natural forms evoke cycles of growth, decay and renewal. Together, the works encourage viewers to reflect on the transformations taking place in the world around them and within their own experiences.

Materiality is central to the exhibition, with artists working across watercolour, oil, mixed media, lithography, drypoint, etching, glass, brass, terracotta, ceramic and wood. Each medium contributes to the individual character of the works, highlighting the diversity of techniques and approaches within contemporary artistic practice associated with Baroda.

Rather than presenting a single visual language, The Baroda Wave brings together multiple perspectives and interpretations. The exhibition moves between past and present, landscape and city, memory and experience, fragility and permanence. Through this interplay, it reflects on how places evolve, how personal and collective identities are shaped, and how art can offer new ways of understanding these changes.

The exhibition features Balaji Ponna, Omprakash Ghodkhande, Jay Gandhi, Himanshu Jamod, Sudip Mondal, Madhavi Srivastava, Balaram Koley, Dinesh Shrimali, Suraj Kumar Sahu, Mahes Maher, Arti Das, Saroj Kumar Singh and Jyoti Bhatt.
